Revolutionising Dance, Women taking radical actions.A day inviting dancers to navigate through the work of seminal women dancers and choreographers, from Isadora Duncan to Yvonne Rainer.
The topics we will cover during the day: We will work with and learn from Isadora Duncan and Yvonne Rainer’s choreographies; we will question how movement travels through bodies; what legacy means for us as movement artists; we will enquire how the body plays a part in leading us towards new territories, exploring wildness and breaking conventions.
The day will be organised around three workshops/talks. In no order, guests teachers are:
• Barbara Kane, fourth generation dancer of Isadora Duncan.
• Sara Wookey, legacy dancer of Yvonne Rainer – @sara_wookey
• Hayley Matthews, multidisciplinary artist; dancer, flutist, vocalist, whose dance work lives in the cracks, on the wild fault lines, in Isadora Duncan’s legacy, connected to the land and people where she lives and in the fertile ground of health, rewilded womanhood and grace. @hayleyjanematthews
This day is for movers and dancers interested in developing their own practice; for movers curious about the legacy work of Duncan, Rainer and being part of a discourse on the subject with fellow contemporary artists.
